Marie Christineis Available

We managed to stop the presses on the last issue of NEWS For Our Theatre Library Customers so that we could announce two thrilling new acquisitions: MARIE CHRISTINE and THE WILD PARTY. Both musicals have music and lyrics by Michael John LaChiusa who has been featured in virtually every article about the future of the Broadway musical as a daring and groundbreaking artist.

Earlier this year MARIE CHRISTINE ran for a limited engagement at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center and THE WILD PARTY ran for several months on Broadway. Though many of you were unable to witness firsthand the depth and breadth of Mr. LaChiusa's work, word of mouth has been so strong that we've received a terrific number of inquiries. And the good news is this: after an initial release to our professional customers MARIE CHRISTINE is now available for licensing to ALL our customers! What's more -- original cast CD recordings of both shows are now available so you can hear for yourself how powerful these musicals are.

A featured article in The New York Times (Arts and Leisure; September 3, 2000) discussed the release of these recordings: "As the records demonstrate, both MARIE CHRISTINE and THE WILD PARTY had music of ambition and originality in abundance." About THE WILD PARTY the Times said, "...Mr. LaChiusa audaciously tried to recreate and reinvent authentic period songs of the 1920s with a contemporary bite..." After mentioning the magnificent performance by Audra McDonald as Marie Christine, the Times went on to discuss "...the ingeniousness of Mr. LaChiusa's all-American, pan-operatic gumbo of a score and the exquisite orchestral settings concocted for that score by Jonathan Tunick."

After hearing the CDs we know you'll join those who want to know more about MARIE CHRISTINE -- the Medea fable set in turn-of-the-century New Orleans, and THE WILD PARTY -- an adult and probing look into man's darker passions. Visit our website at www.rhn.com to request perusal materials and performance rights to MARIE CHRISTINE and to order (via hotlink with Amazon.com) the new cast recordings of MARIE CHRISTINE and THE WILD PARTY.
